Five Finger Discount
This is the day he turned to a life of crime.
After picking him up from preschool, he had no choice but to tag along for his sister's "haircut". (Exactly what do you call it when the number of "snip-snips" equal the amount charged? I call it highway robbery, but others call it SuperCuts.)
Anywhoo...the poor boy used to go to Mac's, a real-time barbershop, to get his hair cut, until his parents decided it was financially a much better decision to torture him and cut his hair at home. Life was good back in the day. He'd climb up into Pat's chair, get a sucker, and come away looking handsome. Now, he gets wrestled into a chair in the bathroom or outside, whack, whack, and thank you, son. Go get cleaned up. No sucker, no neighborhood gossip, nothin'.
Today, his sister got what he used to get: a seat in a chair, a gorgeous cover, and a sucker. He broke a small rule at our house -- don't ask for something that isn't offered to you -- however, it worked in his favor; he also got a sucker, even though he was not the customer.
All's well that end's well, until we got outside, and he showed me the second sucker.
As I was discussing the haircut with the *ahem* stylist, he helped himself to a second sucker. They were in his pockets. The only reason they weren't in his mouth? Because he was busy chomping on gum he'd swiped from the van.
Great.
What does a stolen sucker get you? A trip back into SuperCuts to return not one, but BOTH suckers, and a forced apology. And lots and lots of tears.
Here's hoping that was enough.
