From Climbing the Walls to Climbing the Trees

The boys have been going crazy inside the house, so at the first hint of spring, out we went! It's still pretty muddy, so instead of playing in the yard, of course, they decided they wanted to climb trees. No one bothered to tell them they are still pretty little for this activity. After they drag out the one step ladder, we should at least follow through with our half of the effort. They did have to be rescued a little later, but I guess that's part of the fun!

Great Grandma's Visit

The kids loved having Great Grandma for her surprise visit! After performing all of their best tricks, and entertaining her for the evening, they curled up with her for their bedtime books. The boys curl up with us all of the time, but Maddie never does, so Grandma must be extra special!

Our Crazy Haired Wild Woman

I have often wondered how Maddie will *really* fit in with the boys. No need to worry. She is a streak of fun and energy, just like them.

Today, they decided to play doctor while I was making supper. It sounds bad, but luckily, they were just using flashlights to check each other's ears and mouths, and then tape measures to see how tall they are. Maddie played right along. Both of the boys took their turns checking her out, and she happily opened her mouth and sat still for them to examine her ears. She also stopped running around long enough for them to get accurate measurements. At one point, they had their heads together trying to read the tape measure, and there is little miss thing with her head right in the middle. She let them know that she approved of their approach (or at least that's what it sounded like from the kitchen). They put up with her babbling, and quite honestly, they work extra hard to get her to talk and especially love it when she laughs. I feel confident that these three are bonded for life.

Oh, and by the way, after my consult with Dr. Nick (as he calls himself), I have "nothing" in my head, but in my mouth, I have "a tiny hole where the crumbs go". Good to know. And according to the tape measure, I weigh 36 pounds. He's my favorite.

A Taste of Spring

We were outside for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours yesterday, and loved every second of it. Cooper and Nick drug out every outside toy they owned plus the shovels, broom, and other gardening tools they could find. Maddie is a dirt digger, too. She was so filthy when we finally came inside, but she was one happy girl! The boys went to a skating party last night, so after all of that, they had a really hard time getting up this morning. Needless to say, we took a much needed nap this afternoon, and we're still waiting for Nick to wake up so we can go back out.

We tried to take pictures of Maddie like we did of the boys -- it didn't go so well. Somehow, we made a game out of running off the background and being put back on it. I think we'll try again this weekend, but with some "props" for an Easter picture. I have some wooden eggs that may keep her occupied long enough to get a good one.

Another big weekend: Kid's Kingdom Friday night, a spa morning for me on Saturday, and Jeff and the kids are heading to church to hang out with the other dads and families. Sometime, we are getting over to Brian and Janelle's house to move a couch, and they are coming over here to use the high speed internet to do their taxes. Somehow I have a feeling, Monday will be here before we know it.
