I'm sure she was a lovely lady...she had the humor to birth Rob Reiner, didn't she? But as I was reading the small blurb on CNN, I learned that she died at the age of 94. She was an actress, probably best known for saying, "I'll have what she's having" during When Harry Met Sally. She also was a painter, but what really struck me was that she began her jazz singing career at the age of 65. Sixty-five. Of course she did!
With Cooper in school, Nick quickly heading that way, and Maddie growing up right before my very eyes, I've been quietly starting to panic with the idea of what should I "do". Should I go back to school? Should I try to pursue something in photography? Should I sit on my duff and wait for Jeff's retirement?
Well, guess what. Mrs. Reiner didn't pick one thing and stick to it, so I don't have to, either. I could try it all. I'm starting a list...stay tuned...the next 10 years or so could get interesting.

Cincinnati Rocks
We took a little getaway over fall break to the booming metropolis of Cincinnati, Ohio. In the course of two days, we managed to visit the zoo, Jungle Jim's (a really cool grocery store), Red Robin, the hotel pool, IKEA, Johnny Rocket's, and the Newport Aquarium. We had a blast, and wore ourselves out.

This is how we have a hayride in Ivydale. It's my one attempt at a homemade Halloween costume for Cooper when he was about Maddie's size. He wouldn't wear it then, by the way, but look at him go, now! Good thing I saved it, huh?

The Sign of a Good Weekend...
...Is a bunch of pictures. And we're talking a bunch!
We went to Bluffton on Saturday to visit with Jeff's family -- specifically, his aunt and uncle who were visiting from California.
This is the grandkid/great-grandkid picture we got. Only a few missing, so that's not too bad.
These are Jeff's uncles, his grandma, and his mom.
These are the aunts and uncles.
After lunch and pictures, we went out to nose around in the barn. There are a million treasures out there:
These beer bottles are pretty cool; interesting that there was a tax on this one.

This ammo box has a label that's written in French.
Some of the tools look dangerous.
This box is awesome -- even if it is empty.
This is Jeff's cousin, Blake. Usually, he's inside the Butler Bulldog costume...when all of them aren't missing.
On to Sunday, which was the annual Lautenbach get together. At this one, we had three tractors to play on. An Oliver, which pulled the food wagon; a John Deere, which pulled the hay wagon; and my Grandpa's old Allis-Chalmers, which we requested for pictures.
This is my cousin's daughter, Hadley. She's a red-headed Dutchwoman, which can only mean she has a t-e-m-p-e-r. Pray for her parents.
This is my cousin, Derek, (who when clean-shaven is a Dale, Jr. look-alike), my dad's twin, Donnie, and Hadley.
Cooper wanted me to take his picture. Yep. Cooper. Cooper Engle. Strange, isn't it?
This is the best picture I could get of Miss Maddie. She was way too busy "driving".
